The Round of 16 at the Women's World Cup concludes with a heavyweight side looking to avoid being upset by a significant underdog.

France have put to bed the turmoil of earlier this year where their previous coach was sacked to qualify for the knockout rounds fairly comfortably, with a win over Brazil helping pave the way for their progression.

Their opponents had a tougher and more surprising run to the Round of 16, as they shook off a 6-0 humbling by Germany in their first ever World Cup match to record back to back wins and qualify for the knockout rounds in one of the great stories of the tournament so far.

In a World Cup with upsets aplenty, Morocco's success as the first ever Arab side at the competition is one of the great stories that will be remembered for generations.

France vs Morocco lineups, team news

France's preparation into the lead up of the tournament were disrupted by a change in manager and injuries to key players, but new coach Herve Renard has done well to steady the ship and getting them to the top of a difficult group.

He has opted for different formation in each match, using a 4-4-2 against Jamaica, a 4-3-3 against Brazil and switching to a 4-4-1-1 against Panama.

Star striker Eugenie Le Sommer started the opening two matches, scoring against Brazil, but was rested for the final game against Panama, with Kadidatou Diani shifting to the number nine spot and scoring a hat trick.

Renard has rotated more than most during the group stages, opting for three different centre back combinations, two of which featured captain Wendie Renard; she will return to the lineup and most likelt be accompanied by Estelle Cacasrino.

  • France projected starting lineup (4-3-3): Peyraud-Magnin (GK): — Perriset, Cascarino, Renard, Karchaoui — Geyoro, Toletti, Le Garrec — Diani, Le Sommer, Bacha

Morocco have stayed true with a solid 4-4-2 formation throughout the tournament, which has seen them keep two clean sheets in the aftermath of their heavy first up defeat to Germany.

Nouhaila Benzina's debut against South Korea was a notable moment in World Cup history, as it marked the first time a player had played in the tournament wearing a hijab, and her performances were impressive enough to keep her in the side for the clash over Colombia.

The experienced Ibtissam Jraidi will start up front, and will be given the crucial task of converting any opportunities that will fall Morocco's way, as they will spend much of this match defending and trying to halt a Les Bleues onslaught.

  • Morocco projected starting lineup (4-4-2): Er-Rmichi (GK): — Haj, Chad, Benzina, Redouani — Ouzraoui, Nakkach, Chebbak, Tagnaout — Lahmari, Jraidi
