South Africa fast bowlers Marco Jasnen and Kagiso Rabada, were involved in a bad collision during the Super 8 match against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua.

The two players were fielding on long-on and long-off when they attempted to stop a six from West Indies opening batter, Kyle Mayers. While it was a great effort from both fielders, it ended up in a mid-air collision, with Jansen being forced off the field with an injury.

What happened to Kagiso Rabada after collision with Marco Jansen during T20 World Cup Super 8 clash?

The incident happened during the seventh over when off-spinner Aiden Markram was bowling to left-hander, Kyle Mayers. The West Indies team were under pressure after losing two early wickets of Shai Hope and Nicholas Pooran.

Markram who had picked up the wicket of left-hander Pooran in the powerplay, was used again for his fourth over of the match, to take advantage of the matchup against Myers. The opener hit a lofted the ball straight down the ground, which is when the two teammates collided right in front of the sightscreen.

Marco Jansen, who had dismissed Shai Hope for a duck in the first over, was injured and helped off the field for treatment, to the dressing room. He did not return to bowl in the inning and finished with 1/17 in his 2 overs.

His teammate, Tabraiz Shamsi was asked during the mid-match interview about his status and availability to bat, when he said:

"I have not heard anything about him [Jansen] yet, but hopefully we do not need him [to bat]."

Kagiso Rabada on the other hand, continued to field despite some discomfort, however, he did not bowl until the 18th over. He bowled two overs at the death and finished with 1/11 in 2 overs, including a caught and bowled dismissal of Akeal Hosein.

South Africa restricted the West Indies to a below-par total of 135/8 in the 20 overs of the first innings. Shamsi was the best of the bowlers after he picked up 3/27 in his four overs. They will hope to secure a win in this match and consequently, a spot in the semi-finals as well.
