A mammoth crowd of over 47,000 people in Mumbai have been treated to a classic T20 clash between Australia and India, with the hosts getting home in a super over.

After losing the first match of the series, India bounced back to level the scores against the Aussies in a thrilling clash at DY Patil Stadium on Sunday.

Australia batted first and lost just one wicket, finishing with a big total of 1/187 thanks largely to the performances of Beth Mooney (82*) and Tahlia McGrath (70*) with the bat.

India's run chase got off to a strong start, with opener Smriti Mandhana (79) blasting four maximums in a powerful innings, while solid knocks throughout the top-order helped them get within reach.

But in the dying stages, Richa Ghosch (26*) blasted three sixes from just 13 deliveries to level the scores and take it to a super over.

India would look to continue their momentum and batted first, scoring 20 runs from the over as Mandhana added 13 runs from three deliveries, including one six and one four.

Alyssa Healy (15*) did her best to get the Aussies over the line in their super over, but ultimately fell four runs short and lost the wicket of Ash Gardner for a golden duck.

India would perform a lap of honour after the match in front of the huge crowd, which is the biggest for a women's match in the country in well over four years and one of their highest attendances ever.

The third T20 of the five-game series will take place on Wednesday night.
