There have been recent discussions regarding interest dwindling for Jake Paul boxing fights, thanks in part to “The Problem Child” not facing high-profile names. The YouTuber heard you loud and clear. Paul announced he will fight the legendary Mike Tyson.

The fight was meant for July 20, but a health scare on the part of Tyson postponed the fight to a later date. Paul vs. Tyson will now take place on Friday, November 15.

Paul vs. Tyson emanates from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and will air on Netflix. It is Netflix’s first foray into producing combat sports content. It was not clarified whether Paul vs. Tyson would be a pro or exhibition fight, or how the Texas Athletic Commission can approve a fight between a 27-year-old and an ex-champ who will have turned 58 by fight time.

“Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson is a once-in-a-lifetime dream matchup, and I anticipate it will be the most-watched boxing event in modern boxing history,” said Nakisa Bidarian, founder of Most Valuable Promotions. “Partnering with Netflix for this deal presents an unparalleled opportunity to bring Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson to the world on an unprecedented scale, and we look forward to delivering this incredible clash of two of sports biggest names.

"Six generations of boxing fans will have a stake in the outcome and will be able to watch an anti-hero, Jake Paul, put it all on the line against the baddest man on the planet, Mike Tyson.”

Known as "The Baddest Man on the Planet," Tyson turned pro in 1985. One of the most feared men in and out of the ring, Tyson pulverized his opponents, winning 44 fights via knockout. A former undisputed heavyweight champion, Tyson has had famous accomplishments and setbacks in the ring against the likes of Trevor Berbick, Michael Spinks, Buster Douglas, Evander Holyfield, and more.

Tyson retired in 2005 with a loss against Kevin McBride. An all-time great, Tyson returned to the ring in 2020 to face Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition fight. On that same card, Paul fought former NBA star Nate Robinson.

Along with Robinson, Paul has beaten MMA fighters Ben Askren, Tyron Woodley (twice), Anderson Silva, and Nate Diaz. He lost against Tommy Fury to start 2023, his first contest against a legitimate boxer. Paul ended the year with a knockout win against boxer Andre August. The former Disney star fought at the beginning of March, beating Ryan Bourland via TKO. Many critiqued his performance and opponent.

“It’s crazy to think that in my second pro fight, I went viral for knocking out Nate Robinson on Mike Tyson’s undercard. Now, less than four years later, I’m stepping up to face Tyson myself to see if I have what it takes to beat one of boxing’s most notorious fighters and biggest icons,” said Paul.
