After Tim Tszyu and Jason Moloney suffered defeats in recent months, no Australian male currently holds a world championship belt with any of boxing's four major sanctioning bodies.

Cruiserweight Jai Opetaia, who holds The Ring cruiserweight title, has a chance to change that when he rematches Mairis Briedis in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 18 (Sunday, May 19 in Australia).

Featuring as part of the "Ring Of Fire" card headlined by the undisputed heavyweight world championship bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, Opetaia looks to reclaim the IBF belt he vacated in difficult circumstances last year.

Last time they met, in July 2022, Opetaia upset Briedis to win the IBF world title, fighting through a badly broken jaw to claim a unanimous decision victory.

Can the 28-year-old southpaw emphatically close this chapter or will Latvia's Briedis become a four-time champion at 200-pounds?
